Maiden Voyage

This song has been stuck in my head for a few days now, so I thought I'd share it. The sound of music is more powerful a tool of communication than mere words alone. I tend to choose the wrong words, so we'll do this for now.

The starkest difference between live music and other forms of media is that you can always pop in a DVD and watch it any time you so please. You can pick up a book and read at your leisure. But with music, it's alive, existing only in the now... much as we ourselves do. Music is a reflection into the past, grasping upon a composer's written notes or chord changes, an attempt to anticipate the future, reaching out into a void of silence and transforming it into a sonic canvas, but music exists solely in the present - something it can't escape, nor can we.

Been a fool, been a clown, lost my way from up and down,
And I know... yes, I know...
And I see in your eyes that you really weren't surprised at me
At all... not at all...
And I know by your smile...
It's... you...

Don't care...
...for me
Don't cry, let's say goodbye.
Adieu...

It's time to say goodbye,
I know... that in time,
It will just fade away.
It's time...
...to say...
...good bye.

I stand alone,
And watch you fade away
Like clouds.
High up and in the sky,
I'm strong,
And so cold,
As I stand alone.
Goodbye,
So long,
Adieu...

Oh how I love you so,
Lost in those memories,
And now you've gone.
I feel a pain,
Feeling... like a fool...
Adieu...

My love for you
burns deep inside me
so strong...
Embers of times we had,
And now,
Here I stand,
Lost in a memory,
I see your face... and smile.

Oh how I love you so,
Lost in those memories,
And now you've gone.
I feel a pain,
Feeling... like a fool...
Adieu...

My love for you
burns deep inside me
so strong...
Embers of times we had,
And now,
Here I stand,
Lost in a memory,
I see your face...
...and smile.
